In 2006, in a quest to get back to small town living we headed to the East Kootenays, our new home was an old cedar kit home. The concept was "Industrial Cottage" - Classic simple cottage, washed with sunshine and a fresh crisp palette with elements of industrial metal and dramatic oversized timber beams. These beams were bold and bright in their natural finish allowing us to open up the main floor and create a large kitchen space by the wood burning fire. A tiny footprint, a welcoming cottage that was intentional in it's casual attitude - hence the nick name "The Surf Shack".
